Program Outline

“It's a fabulous program! I love the block of time I have off weekly. My child especially enjoys the variety of the day from the super art projects, music, big gym activities and excellent hands-on playroom time. They all make up a great day! " Heather T.

"SSMDO is a program I wholeheartedly believe in. My children and I have also made wonderful friendships that even go beyond the walls of the program." Barb W.

Our aim is to promote growth and development of the whole child by considering each child's social, physical, intellectual, creative, emotional, and self-esteem needs.

We encourage learning through play using a variety of activities, both structured and unstructured. Children may choose to play at water and sand tables, or with imagination toys, blocks, or puzzles. We also encourage our budding artists to experiment with paint, crayons, play clay and other artistic materials.

Daily Routine

Establishing a routine is important for young children and helps develop feelings of security and order. Each group creates a routine that is flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of children while providing the basic structure of the day. A daily routine schedule is found in our Parent Handbook. Each classroom’s schedule includes time for indoor and outdoor play, snack, lunch, hygiene practices, structured activities, and rest.

Weather permitting, outdoor play is scheduled at least once per day per classroom. We feel it is important for the children to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine, get some exercise and develop gross motor skills. Outdoor play is also a great way to socialize, practice turn-taking and engage in imaginative play.

Whether it is water play, dress-up, story time, outdoor play, prancing around the gym or a quiet nap, your child will experience activities that will promote their well-being, happiness and self-confidence at South Side Mothers’ Day Out.
